Would you trust your neighbor to redecorate a room in your house? That’s the question that was asked by TLC when Trading Spaces first aired. Two neighbors would switch homes and with the help of designers redecorate one room with stunning and sometimes ridiculous results, with the homeowners having no say in the eventual outcome.
The show originally aired from 2000 to 2008, but if you missed the original run, don’t worry—the show is making a comeback! According to Deadline, TLC is looking to increase their home renovation line up, which will include a revival of the hit show.
“TLC is back into home and property with Nate & Jeremiah By Design, our new show helping distressed homeowners turn disasters into dream homes,” says TLC President and General Manager Nancy Daniels. “We are thrilled to expand in this space, and what better way to do that than to bring back Trading Spaces, the series that put property on the map.”
The series will be produced by Authentic Entertainment. Trading Spaces was based on a British show called Changing Rooms that aired on BBC. In addition to the original program, Trading Spaces had several themed seasons and spin offs that entertained and shocked audiences, including Trading Spaces: Family, and Trading Spaces: Boys vs. Girls.
So, do you think people can trust their neighbors to improve a room in their house? Before you say yes, take a look back at some of the more outlandish make overs, including a room with hay stuck to the walls!
