Gleeks and fans of Jane Lynch have long known of the impressive work she has done promoting LGBTQ rights and today the Trevor Project was proud to announce that she will be honoured at this year’s TrevorLIVE as the recipient of the Trevor Hero Award.

The Golden Globe Award and Emmy Award-winning actress will be presented with the award at TrevorLIVE, which is being held at the Hollywood Palladium on Sunday December 8.

In a statement, the Trevor Project’s Executive Director and CEO Abbe Land, said of Lynch, “We are deeply honored to announce Jane Lynch as our Trevor Hero Award honoree. Through her career and personal endeavors, Jane has emerged to be an unabashed proponent of equality for LGBTQ people, using her influence to pave the way for the futures of lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and questioning youth.”

On finding out about the honour, Lynch said, “I’m proud to stand up for a cause I believe in and am deeply honored to receive the Trevor Hero Award. With the major strides, like the impending passage of ENDA, and the outpouring of LGBTQ characters in the media, it can be easy to forget that despite all this progress, challenges remain. The Trevor Project continues to provide essential support to those who need it most.”
