The driver responsible for the car crash yesterday (June 7) that left comedian Tracy Morgan in critical condition has turned himself in to New Jersey State Police. Sergeant Gregory Williams told CNN that 35-year-old Kevin Roper, a Walmart employee, posted $50,000 bail. Morgan and three other comedians were returning from a comedy tour date in Delaware when the accident occurred around 1 AM on Saturday morning. One, 63-year-old James McNair, was killed when the limo bus was hit by Roper's truck. He performed under the stage name Jimmy Mack.

Ardie Fuqua, Harris Stanton, and another passenger, Jeffrey Millea, were injured. One victim was released from the hospital yesterday, but the Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital wouldn't reveal the person's name. According to the Middlesex County Prosecutor's Office, "Roper is charged with one count of death by auto and four counts of assault by auto." Walmart CEO Bill Simon released a statement regarding the accident:

"This is a tragedy, and we are profoundly sorry that one of our trucks was involved. The facts are continuing to unfold. If it's determined that our truck caused the accident, Walmart will take full responsibility."

"The driver of the tractor-trailer failed to observe slow-moving traffic ahead. At the last minute, he swerved to try and avoid the Mercedes limo bus but struck it from behind, forcing the limo to rotate and overturn," Sergeant Williams said. The police are investigating whether or not alcohol may have played a role.

Though the accident also involved four other vehicles, no one else was injured.

A spokesman for the National Transportation Safety Board said that the organization will be investigating safety with regards to commercial trucks and limousines. Bronx-born Tracy Morgan is best known for his stints on Saturday Night Live and satirical sitcom 30 Rock. Messages of love and support have poured in from his friends and peers since the accident. All of us here at PopWrapped wish everyone involved a speedy recovery, and our thoughts are with James McNair's family. Keep Up With PopWrapped On The Web!
