Comedy nerds, rejoice! Craig Ferguson and Drew Carey are set to switch jobs…for one night. On April 1st, as part of an April Fool’s special, the longtime pals and former Drew Carey Show co-stars will host the other’s show.
Drew Carey will host Ferguson’s longtime late night show The Late Late Show, while Ferguson will be the host of Carey’s The Price is Right.
Carey has been hosting The Price is Right since 2007, when he took over from legendary host Bob Barker, who hosted for 35 years. Ferguson took over the dwindling Late Late Show from Craig Killborn in 2005.
The Late Late Show is known for its silly humor and surreal comedy, which is mostly due to Craig Ferguson, so it will be interesting to see the blue-collar Drew Carey in the seat for a change. On the other hand, it will be quite something to see the hilarious Scotsman hosting one of America’s favorite gameshows, which is in itself an entertainment institution.
The two friends even swapped some advice in preparation. In a joint interview with USA Today, Carey said to Ferguson, “I’ll give you the same advice Bob gave me. You’ve got to be yourself. Make it your own show.”
Ferguson responded to Carey with, “And I’ll give you the advice Peter Lassally, the guru of late night, gave me: Don’t be too Scottish.”
Both programmes are broadcast on CBS, and will be broadcast on April 1st. Tune in for what is likely to be quite an interesting and hilarious experiment.
