That’s right Iron Man fans, there’s going to be two versions of the newest film out there for you to collect and compare. Marvel Studios and Chinese media company, DMG, gave a holiday treat to Chinese fans and franchise devotees by announcing today that a Chinese version will be released alongside the Hollywood version that the rest of the world will see.
The statement includes information on some of the Beijing elements of the film that will be the same in both versions, but also what is included in the special Chinese cut. For example, Chinese actor Wang Xueqi will be appearing in both versions of the film. Likewise both versions will include footage that was filmed in Beijing last December. However, the Chinese version will feature a special appearance by “China’s top actress”, Fan Bingbing. Fan can also be seen as Blink in the upcoming X-Men: Days of Future Past. Marvel Studios and DMG have also promised “specially prepared bonus footage made exclusively for the Chinese audience”.
The full statement can be read at Deadline.com.
Hopefully the extra footage will be released as a DVD/Blu-Ray special feature for the non-Chinese audience. Otherwise fans will be eagerly awaiting the release of the two versions to compare and get the full experience.
Iron Man 3 will be released in the UK on April 25 and the US May 3. There has been no date set for it’s Chinese release.
