The upcoming thriller film, Gone Girl, just had another star sign on to the film in Tyler Perry. He’s signed on to play the role of attorney, Tanner Bolt. The film will be an adaptation of the book of the same name by author, Gillian Flynn.

Gone Girl tells the story of a husband Nick Dunne, to be played by Ben Affleck, as he searches for his wife Amy, to be played by Rosamund Pike, when she disappears on the morning of their fifth wedding anniversary. When the media portrays Nick as the prime suspect in his wife’s disappearance, he is forced to figure out what happened to her or face the consequences.

Playing a defense lawyer will be a different role for Perry as most know him for his role as Madea, in the series he created. This role will also be a risk for him since the last time he played a film role that wasn’t in the Madea series it didn’t do so hot at the box office. We’re hoping that doing a film with Ben Affleck will hopefully fair better for him. His film Alex Cross, where Perry played a psychologist and a police lieutenant, only made back $32 million of its $35 million budget.

Gone Girl is being produced by Reese Witherspoon, though she will not be starring in the film as previously rumoured. However, according to Digital Spy, Neil Patrick Harris is apparently in talks to play the role of Desi Collins, the ex-boyfriend of Amy. The film also has David Fincher, of The Curious Case of Benjamin Button, The Social Network, and The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo fame, directing the film. He most recently directed the hit-Emmy nominated Netflix series, House of Cards.

There currently isn’t a release date for Gone Girl, but it looks like it will be hitting theatres sometime in 2015.
