Let it be known that Tyra Banks does not play around.

Former American football player Denzel Wells found that out first hand when he made some disparaging comments towards fellow ANTM and openly gay contestant Will Jardell.

Wells remarked earlier that he did not have a problem with gay people, but was reluctant to return home and have to explain how he lost to a gay man in high heels. As a result, Jardell opted to wear heels again.

Tyra picked up on this and asked Wells for his side. When he replied that he didn’t “want Will to think I’m bashing him for being gay or that I’m ashamed of him,” Tyra immediately cut across him and insisted that he did, and that he actually does care, by merit of making the comment in the first place.

She continues to say:

This is an industry that is predominately female. So when you step into an industry that is predominately a certain sex, you get the stereotype that you are gay.

Be proud of this industry, and every single male model — gay, straight, heels, corsets, who gives a fuck?

I want to take you back 50 years and imagine you overheard Will say, ‘I hope that Denzel guy doesn’t win. Because if that black guy wins, my friends at home are going to say I’m his bitch.”

Wells could not formulate a response. We don’t blame him. Not many people can handle Tyra’s truth bombs.
