RuPaul's Drag Race
season 2 winner Tyra Sanchez, whose real name is James Ross IV, was arrested in Virgina
for a misdemeanor assault.
According to Virginia Beach court records, Sanchez was arrested on Sept. 9th, but the incident took place August 25th . Charges were filed by Daniel Alonso, and if found guilty he could face a minimum of six months in mandatory confinement.
Sanchez told TMZ
that he was actually the victim in the assault. He claims that he was signing autographs at the Rainbow-Cactus Company a few weeks ago, when a guy in the crowd began heckling him. Sanchez tried to calm the situation, but the venue's security guard grabbed him, slammed him to the ground, and cuffed him. He was eventually let go, but Sanchez obtained a cut to his head, sprained shoulder, and bruises.
Since the arrest, Sanchez has posted bail and will now wait for the follow up arraignment set for October 8.
