It may still be three months away, but everybody knows that the Super Bowl always delivers some impressive ads, one hell of a half-time show and some kind of controversy. And it’s never too early to start working on your ad, especially when you’re making a big announcement.

Almost five years after No Line on the Horizon was released in February 2009, Irish rock band U2 are planning on announcing their 13th studio album at the Super Bowl XLVIII, according to Digital Spy.

Last month, we reported that bass player, Adam Clayton believed that the band would finish recording the album in the next few weeks. Earlier this week, Billboard revealed that the album is expected to be released in April 2014. Now Digital Spy has learnt that the band’s representatives are in negotiations with a number of brands to “announce their new album during the coveted ad breaks in the Super Bowl.” They understand that Guy Oseary, manager of Madonna, is “reaching out to potential sponsors on the band’s behalf”.

In addition to the new album, U2 recently revealed that they would be releasing two songs from the soundtrack of the Nelson Mandela biopic, Mandela: Long Walk To Freedom on Record Store Day’s Black Friday (November 29).
