The race to the top on the UK Top 100 Albums chart right now seems to be a very intense one, especially between Robbie Williams and Gary Barlow. Williams has managed to stay on top another week, making this week six, with his album Swings Both Ways.
Last week, the LP earned the title of this year’s Christmas number one album and has since then gone on to sell another 91,000 copies.
Gary Barlow is following closely being and has made a jump from #3 on the charts up to #2 with his album Since I Saw You Last as well as selling 79,000 copies. As Barlow rises, One Direction’s Midnight Memories takes a dip down to #3. The rest of the top ten is rounded out by Beyonce, Olly Murs, Ellie Goulding, Eminem, Michael Buble (in 8th and 9th) and the Killers.
Beyond the top ten, albums are jumping back and forth and are all over the place! Emeli Sande has re-entered the charts at #31 with 2012’s best-seller Our Version of Events. The 1975’s self-titled debut album managers to climb 21 spots this week up to #32 while Lorde’s Pure Heroine climbs 19 spots to land in the #33 spot.
