Not content to rest on their laurels or take time to bask in the success of their 2012 debut album DNA, UK girl band Little Mix are hard at work back in the recording studio writing for their second studio album.
While DNA was released in the UK last November, they only dropped the album Stateside this past May and have been heavily promoting the album throughout the US. Now back in the UK and hitting the summer festival circuit, they are ready to settle into their sound and produce a “slightly mature” sounding follow-up.
Speaking to MTV, Jade Thirlwall said, “We’re so proud of [the] DNA album. We don’t want to let it go, but we’ve had a bit of fun. We’ve only literally just started writing and stuff. I think we probably might mature slightly for this album, but we want to keep the kind of uplifting message we had on the last one.”
Fellow bandmate Jesy Nelson agreed saying: “Like Jade said, we want it to be a little more mature ‘cause we feel like our fans grow with us. We don’t know yet. We[‘re] literally in the first stages of it, but we know when have a hit.”
The group has been keeping their fans updated on their writing progress through their Twitter account this month.
Jesy tweeted on 4th July: “Agghhhhh sooo excited about the song were writing today :D getting goosebumps!”
Jade added the next day: “Come up with a chorus for the song we were very excited about yesterday :D time to write a middle 8!”
