Who says that modesty can't be fashionable?
Now they have partnered with Hana Tajima, a UK fashion blogger/designer, for her own line: The Hana Tajima LifeWear Collection. For her range, she says:
"We want to create a collection that not only appeals to modern ladies who prefer to dress modestly, but also an international audience who desires clothes that fit comfortable and look contemporary. My collection is specifically designed to allow effortless mix and match for today's women to express their own style."
After converting to Islam at age 17, she found it difficult to find the right kind of clothes for herself and others. She tells Mashable:
"When it comes to buying clothes, on the one hand you have traditional styles that really target you as a 'Muslin woman of [insert regional heritage],' but for a lot of women, a singular and specific cultural identity isn't what they relate to... there is a lot of ingenuity and making do with what's available on the high-street, but you just don't find clothes that were made for you. A line of modest clothing was a way to reach a lot of people who are often very overlooked."
According to UNIQLO Singapore, her line features clothing that appears to be layered, but is only one garment, making it stylish and comfortable at the same time. Additionally, the hijabs come in different colors, prints, and breathable materials, keeping it cool (literally).
While the collection is only available to purchase at select Singapore locations and online, you can view the UNIQLO x Hana Tajima interview below which reveals several of the pieces on singer/songwriter Yuna and the designer herself.
