On June 1, 2015, Gov. Greg Abbott signed S.B. 11, also known as the ‘campus carry’ law. S.B. 11 provides that license holders may carry a concealed handgun throughout university campuses, starting Aug. 1, 2016. The law gives public universities some discretion to regulate campus carry.

This quote can be found in the description for an event taking place on Wednesday, August 24, 2016 at The University of Texas at Austin. As of right now, nearly 9,000 people have RSVPed to the event - a day where students carry dildos to class.

The event intends to protest the law that will go into affect next August that will allow students to carry concealed weapons to class. Bringing dildos to class will combat this - making a statement to how guns are allowed in the classroom but images of sex are not.

“The State of Texas has decided that it is not at all obnoxious to allow deadly concealed weapons in classrooms, however it DOES have strict rules about free sexual expression, to protect your innocence. You would receive a citation for taking a DILDO to class before you would get in trouble for taking a gun to class. Heaven forbid the penis.”

The event is using the hashtag #CocksNotGlocks to promote the event. With over 38,000 people invited and more and more RSVPing every day, the protest is certainly gaining a large amount of attention, and will likely be big news when it takes place next year.
