USA Hockey Team Sweeps The Ice, Beats Slovakia 7 To 1

After 60 minutes of hockey early Thursday morning, USA took the win against Slovakia with 7 goals to 1. Jonathan Quick, who manned the pipes for USA, stopped 22 of 23 shots, while the two goalies for Slovakia stopped 26 of 33 shots.

Jaroslav Halak, the first goalie the Slovak team put in, plays for the St. Louis Blues and has a save percentage of .915. Marián Hossa, who plays for the Chicago Blackhawks tallied an assist.

John Carlson scored Team USA’s first goal–and only goal for the first period. The team scored 6 shots in the second period from players Ryan Kesler (Vancouver Canucks), Paul Stastny (2, Colorado Avalanche), David Backes (St. Louis Blues), Phil Kessel (Toronto Maple Leafs), and Dustin Brown (Los Angeles Kings).

The next game is at 7:30am ET on Saturday morning and is available to watch on NBCSN.
