Edward and Bella who? Okay, of course we love the star crossed lovers but now they’re living in Twilight bliss it’s time for a new generation of neck biters to take over the big screen.
Introducing Rose Hathaway a character brought to life by Richelle Mead, author of coming of age novel series ‘Vampire Academy’. The six part series has now been published in 34 countries resulting in fans crying out for a movie and here it is!
Rose is played by Zoey Deutch from Beautiful Creatures and our lead girl is half human, half vampire. A HAMPIRE we here you cry? Well close, she’s a Dhampir. There are actually three kinds of vampire in this world, the Moroi who are peaceful beings that only take blood from donors. The Dhampir protect the Moroi and then there’s the vicious vamps the Strigoi.
The story follows Rose protecting best friend Princess Lissa (Lucy Fry) who both attend St Vladimir’s boarding school. Moroi Lissa is the last in her Royal Line and when Rose senses danger at the school she convinces Lissa to run away with her. When the blood sisters are tracked down and brought back the danger still appears to linger at their prestigious school.
The film is directed by Mean Girls’ Mark Waters and is therefore set to be super fetch. He also joins his blood brother Daniel Waters who adapted the novel into a screenplay. We are loving the first trailer for the film which features sexy music and a sassy voiceover. The action is complimented by the dark cinematography and there’s some half naked vampires thrown in for good measure too.
Following the release of the trailer Zoe Deutch tweeted; “I’m so happy to see these enthusiastic responses to the first official #VampireAcademy trailer!”
Vampire Academy: Blood Sisters is released February 14 in the US and February 19 in the UK. You can check out the trailer below:
