Tonight on VH1, marking the first biopic they’ve done in 10 years since Michael Jackson’s Man In The Mirror: The Michael Jackson Story, will air and it gives viewers a look at the personal lives, music careers, ups and downs of one of the most successful female groups of all time: TLC.

The 2-hour long movie, entitled CrazySexyCool: The TLC Story, shows just about everything you remember or would want to know about the group, including the late Lisa “Left Eye” Lopes burning down her ex-boyfriends house. Talk about scandal!

The remaining two members of the group, Rozanda “Chilli” Thomas and Tionne “T-Boz” Watkins were there for the whole process of making this movie. They were available to the cast to help them learn more about themselves in order to deliver the roles properly on screen. Chilli and T-Boz were apparently extra attentive to Lil Mama who took on the role of playing Left Eye. “I looked at different interviews of Lisa, watching the way she sparks and her delivery,” said Lil Mama. “With her not being there, I leaned on Tionne and Chilli for help.”

Chilli and T-Boz were both really impressed with what Lil Mama did with her role in the movie saying that “she totally came into character” and at times the resemblance between the two was so similar that it was eerie.

Keke Palmer plays Chilli in the movie and was very honored to be able to contribute to the film and play this role. “They really put their whole lives out there. They did it fearlessly. I think it’ll be amazing to see how genuine their music was and how close it was to what they were going through.”

Wrapping up the main cast is Drew Sidora playing T-Boz. This casting pair definitely couldn’t have been more perfect. Apparently, the first time that Sidora and T-Boz spoke on the phone, their conversation lasted for around five hours! T-Boz told Sidora of her past and her harsh struggle with chronic sickle cell anemia. Little to T-Boz’s knowledge, Sidora already had a familiarity with the disease because for the past eight years she’s been a spokeswoman for the Sickle Cell Disease Association of Illinois. Talk about a match made in Heaven!

Other than scream-singing “No Scrubs,” “Waterfalls” and “Unpretty” every time I hear them, I don’t know a lot about the story behind TLC, but this seems like a really interesting movie; though it also seemed a bit of a random choice, to me. However, VH1 Senior Vice President of West Coast production and development, Jill Holmes, thinks differently. “When we looked at all the artists that would resonate with our audience, TLC was like on top of the list,” she says. Past TLC specials such as their Behind the Music and The Last Days of Left Eye were rated very high which is what led them to believe this would be the perfect biopic to make next.

Chilli hopes the movie can show the audience and fans that, despite everything that TLC went through, they were resilient and able to make some of the best songs from my childhood, as well as continuing to still move forward as a group, just recently releasing an album of their greatest hits.

CrazySexyCool: The TLC Story premieres tonight on VH1 at 9/8c.
