Downton Abbey has taken the world by storm, but now, in conjunction with charitable organisation Omaze, the hit period drama is preparing to welcome one lucky fan (and one lucky friend!) on to the set, all in the name of charity. The cast are looking to raise money to help those in the Philippines whose lives were torn apart by Typhoon Haiyan. Entries are set to start at 10$, and will go to charity Be The Change. The aim is to raise enough money to provide more than just immediate aid, but to provide help for people in the years to come. Members of the cast have even recorded a light-hearted promotional video, encouraging people to enter the contest. Allen Leech, who plays Tom Branson, promises that the fan’s on-set selfie will be “the first selfie ever recorded in 1920s England”, and even says he’ll jump in the photo himself. Michelle Dockery, who plays the lovely Lady Mary Crawley, also promises lessons on “the proper posture while wearing a corset.” But don’t fret men – she finishes, naturally in true, serious Lady Mary style, with “that goes for you too, gentleman.”
The prize itself, a day on the set of Downton Abbey with the cast, is truly remarkable. Throw in the aspect of helping a hugely worthy charity as well... where do I sign up?! You can enter the contest here.
