Vixen was a web series that debuted on CW's online streaming service, CW Seed, based on the DC Comics character of the same name. The series was met with mostly positive reviews, with the primarily criticisms being its short length and lack of chemistry between the voice actors. Vixen was voiced by Megalyn Echikunwoke, and the series featured Arrow and The Flash cast members such as Stephen Amell, Grant Gustin, and Carlos Valdes.
When the web series ended, many wondered if the character would be seen again on one of CW's live action series. Fans now have an answer - Vixen will appear on an upcoming episode of Arrow, currently scheduled to air on February 24, 2016.
Vixen, or Mari McCabe, is a superhero with the power to take on the ability of animals through the use of an ancient Tantu Totem that has been passed down her family line for generations. Vixen has already encountered Oliver Queen (Green Arrow) at this point, and there have been no plot details revealed. Her powers have already been demonstrated in the animated series, which will make seeing how the CW manages to translate those abilities to live action on their budget very interesting.
Echikunwoke will reprise her role in the live-action series, which was something producer Marc Guggenheim said they were "immensely excited" about.
We're not only thrilled to be further expanding our DC television universe by bringing in the live-action incarnation of the CW Sed hit, Vixen, we're immensely excited that Megalyn will be revisiting her role as Mari McCabe.
Vixen's move to live-action is the latest in a series of steps producers have taken to expand the DC Comics' television universe. The January 2016 debut of Legends of Tomorrow is yet another step, as was Matt Ryan's guest role as Constantine earlier this season.
What do you think Arrow fans? Is Vixen a good fit for Team Arrow?
