Watch Carrie Fisher's Star Wars Audition | Fisher

In December, we thought we were safe from the wrath of 2016, but, clearly, we were wrong. On December 27th, we lost our dear Carrie Fisher. She was an icon and a treasure and, honestly, an inspiration to most of us.

And, while she is so much more than just Princess Leia in the Star Wars series, Carrie is a household name because of George Lucas's space adventure films.

So it is really truly something special to find gems like this and get to see Carrie audition for the role that made her famous. Especially since she wasn't even twenty at the time. The amount of talent she had, even then, was jaw dropping!

The video clearly shows Carrie auditioning for the role but also gives us a glimpse of why she was chosen to play Leia. Yes, we know and love her because of the role, but it is so interesting to see her auditioning for it and not already playing Leia. We're so used to her in the white dress and huge buns that we don't think about the audition process or Carrie before Star Wars.

And, now, it is almost impossible to not talk about Carrie Fisher and bring up Star Wars. Even Carrie herself couldn't separate herself from it and had a huge section about the franchise in her one woman show, Wishful Drinking.

But remember: no matter what you know Carrie Fisher from or how much she meant to you, she was so much more than just Leia, and we love everything about her. We will miss you Carrie forever and always. You're an inspiration to us all, and, if it weren't for you as Princess Leia in Star Wars, who knows where female characters would be today!

Thank you for all you did, and for all that your work continues to do. At least you drowned in the moonlight, strangled by your bra.
