Barney Stinson’s brother totally changes what we have come to know and expect of television characters, especially in a comedy. In a recent interview with HuffPost Live, Wayne Brady, who plays Neil Patrick Harris’ on-screen brother, James, talks about how his character is different to what is commonly seen on television. With HIMYM’s final season taking place over the span of three days, viewers have been able to see more of Brady’s character, who has been appearing on the show since 2006. On playing James, Brady said, “He happens to be Barney’s opposite and he happens to be gay and he’s his brother who happens to be black.” “People in the gay community that have seen it know it comes from a place of love, that there’s never any instance of camp. It’s just about a guy.” In the interview, he also talks about James being featured on’s list of top bachelors and imagines what it would be like for himself and co-star Neil, to be in a dance off. “How I Met Your Mother” airs Monday, 8 p.m. EST on CBS.
