Weezer frontman Rivers Cuomo has inspired Fox's next comedy series. The network has issued a put-pilot order to Psych
creator Steve Franks after he pitched the idea.
will be a slightly out of sequence, single-camera, coming of age story that tells the story of a 30-something rock star, who walks away from the spotlight at the height of his fame in an effort to rediscover the parts of his life he missed while he was busy becoming a massive success. The plot is similar to when Cuomo took a sabbatical to attend Harvard eight years ago.
Franks will executive produce DeTour
with Tagline Television’s Chris Henze and Willie Mercer.
Weezer has sold close to 20 million records and will be releasing their next studio album “Everything Will Be Alright in the End” on Oct. 7. Major tour dates and music festivals will follow.
