Wentworth Miller is back to the world of television and this time around he's giving the world's fastest man alive a run for his money. Prison Break
star Miller will be returning to the holy land of television by playing one of The Flash's biggest foes, Leonard Snart aka Captain Cold. This will be Miller's biggest role since his part in Resident Evil: Afterlife.
Miller answered a couple questions sent in by The Hollywood Reporter
via email. When asked what about The Flash
and his character Captain Cold made him want to return to television, Miller responded by saying that even though he enjoyed writing and being his own boss, he found that he was missing, "the community and the connection you find on set. Especially a TV set. The cast and crew of The Flash bust hump every week putting together something great. And that creates this really tight, close-knit dynamic. A certain electricity. And he was looking for some of that in his life again."
Miller also confirmed that he had a hand in the casting of Dominic Purcell (Miller's costar in Prison Break) who will play the character Heatwave, who is a Rogue member. When the character of Heatwave was described, Miller instantly thought that Purcell would be the perfect fit for the role, he just never expected it to actually happen. However, he's extremely glad it did. He describes himself and Purcell as very different individuals who understand one another and that's how their characters are on-screen as well. "What I would have had to generate from nothing with another actor — history, intimacy — Dom and I already had the moment they yelled action," commented Miller.
In regards to his Flash
character Captain Cold, Miller says he was most intrigued by Cold because despite being a formidable villain he's also very much human. So he'll be a part of the action but he'll also get genuine character development. Miller further added, "This is a show where there seems to be a real balance between action and character. They're investing in both. So I knew it wouldn't just be Snart blasting things with his Cold Gun. We get to see the man too."
Miller is then asked if Captain Cold bared any similarities to his iconic Prison Break
character Michael Scofield. Miller answers by saying that though both share the quality of being clever, Scofield is more willing to sacrifice himself for others whereas Captain Cold is willing to sacrifice others for himself. In regards to Captain Cold's motivations for wanting to destroy The Flash
, Miller points out that Cold's motives are classic in terms of the fact that he wants world domination and that whoever gets in the way will be eliminated sooner rather than later.
I, for one, am looking forward to Millers television return. The Flash
airs Tuesdays on The CW @8:00 p.m.
