Simmons plays the role of Terence Fletcher, Neiman's jazz instructor whose unconventional methods push students to the peak of their abilities and leads Neiman striving for complete performance perfection in a film that details the constant search for artistic happiness and the mental anguish associated. The film goes on to explore the depths of music, passion, commitment, and personal relationships, making it an elaborate example of a well-rounded film.
