As reported by Digital Spy, the comedy series Wilfred has been renewed for a fourth season. This will also be the final season.
In addition to this, Wilfred will no longer being aired on FX Network, but has moved to FXX, the home of award-winning and original television.
Here’s a surprise to our readers. Wilfred’s previous executive producer, David Zuckerman, had stepped down during the third season. TV Guide claims that Zuckerman will be back to co-produce the final season along with Eli Jorne and Reed Agnew.
If Zuckerman is really back on board, then there will be some hope that the show will end with a bang. Zuckerman had introduced the comedic series with some dark humor. After passing the show along to Jorne and Agnew, the darkness disappeared. It wasn’t necessarily a bad thing.
As Zuckerman said in a recent Comic-Con Interview, “It’s just a really different vision.”
Ever since Zuckerman’s disappearance, whom brought 2.6 million viewers during the launch of Wilfred, the third season of ended on a low note. The show brought an average of just under a million viewers during the season, and a rough estimate of 440,000 viewers for the season finale.
Writers of the comedy series have been notified in advance to prepare and write up an ending that will achieve in satisfying Wilfred fans and tie up all the loose ends.

The final season premiere is expected to air some time in 2014.
