Tonight marked the first night of The Voice: Season Five live shows! There were some pretenders and contenders who performed tonight. However, one big standout of the night was PopWrapped's artist-to-watch, Will Chaplin. The Los Angeles native has delivered powerhouse performance week after week, which includes his Blind Audition with Gavin DeGraw’s “Not Over You” to his superb battle with James Wolpert.  He continued to evolve into a fan-favorite. Despite those performances, Will sang two songs that helped him cement his place in fans’ hearts. While Will lost to James, Christina Aguilera swooped in and saved him from being eliminated.  Under Christina’s tutelage, he invoked a more soulful take on Bruno Mars’ “When I Was Your Man,” which received a standing ovation from his new coach. Even though Will lost the Knockout Round to Team Christina’s Matthew Schuler, Adam Levine (using his final steal) stole him back and Will became a vital part of Team Adam. Will stole the show when he performed a cover of One Republic’s “Secrets”. His arrangement of the song kicked off with him on the piano for a few bars. He is an incredible pianist. I hope that Will uses the piano during the latter rounds of the show because it can show viewers that he is not a one-trick pony, unlike certain artists remaining in the competition. One quality that viewers may notice about Will is that everything he touches…turns to gold!  Even One Republic tweeted out: “Just watched Will Champlin singing "Secrets." Hands down the best cover of it we have EVER heard!!!! VOTE 4 WILL @WillChamplin @NBCTheVoice.” That is why Will needs your votes. You can download his track on iTunes, vote on Facebook, and call 1-877-553-3707. Don’t forget to tune in on Thursday to find out if Will made the Top 12!
