He certainly doesn’t seem to think so…
Ewan McGregor played fan favourite, Obi-Wan Kenobi in the three most recent Star Wars films but it is not yet known whether he will make an appearance in the upcoming film.
E! News spoke to the star about his role in Episode VII after reports claimed he had already signed on. McGregor famously adores the Star Wars franchise and has even campaigned to reprise his Jedi role in JJ Abram’s sequel.
But no luck as yet, it seems. “They haven’t phoned me,” he told E! News at the Toronto International Film Festival. “I’d be up for it if they asked.”
The 42-year-old actor also stated in the past that he would love Obi-Wan Kenobi to star in his own spinoff movie. We can’t say we’d be displeased with that either, Ewan.
JJ Abrams is gearing up to helm Star Wars Episode 7 at the moment. The film is expected to be released in 2015 amid colossal fan hype. Good luck JJ!
His recent Star Trek movies were incredibly (often surprisingly) well-received by Trekkies so we have hope that he’ll work his magic on this franchise as well. Abrams confirmed not long ago that he won’t be able to direct a third Star Trek film as he’ll be preoccupied with Star Wars.
