Will This Setlist Propel New Directions To A Second Victory In The “City Of Angels”?

After what has been arguably the longest senior year ever (senior year is bad enough, but to have it drag on this long – just saying I feel for them all), it seemed as if we would never get to Glee’s Nationals competition. Luckily for us, as well as New Directions, the Nationals episode, “City of Angels”, will be one of the first aired once the series returns from its winter hiatus.

The glee competitions have always produced a wide variety of songs with interesting combinations and this year is no different. The setlist for “City of Angels” is as follows:

“I Love L.A.” by Randy Newman sung by Artie, Jake, Blaine, Sam and Will
“Vacation” by The Go-Go’s sung by The Amazonians
“Counting Stars” by OneRepublic sung by Jean-Baptiste & Throat Explosion
“Mr Roboto” by Styx sung by Jean-Baptiste & Throat Explosion
“More Than A Feeling” by Boston sung by New Directions
“America” by Neil Diamond sung by New Directions
“I Still Haven’t Found What I’m Looking For” by U2 sung by New Directions.

Given the episode is set in LA and the boys are doing “I Love L.A.”, I feel a “I Love New York/New York, New York” style montage during this song like in “New York”.

We already know that Pitch Perfect’s Skylar Astin is guest starring as lead singer of Throat Explosion, Jean-Baptiste. However, from the list above, it appears that the New Directions will also be battling for the Nationals trophy against The Amazonians as well.

“City of Angels” will air on March 11, 2014. Glee returns on Tuesday February 25 with “Frenemies”.
