It looks as like Warner Bros have found someone to replace Kristen Stewart in the upcoming movie Focus. According to Variety Margot Robbie, who can next be seen in Wolf of Wall Street, has been chosen to co-star with Will Smith in the movie. Focus is a con artist comedy from the duo that brought us Crazy Stupid, Love Duo, Glenn Ficarra and John Regua.
The project has gone through a number of casting changes, at first the movie was set to feature Ryan Gosling and Emma Stone however scheduling prevented the stars from working together once again. Then it appeared the roles were to be filled by Ben Affleck and Kristen Stewart. In late 2012 Stewart told the Huffington Post that she was excited for the movie because it was a comedy role.
This casting choice failed to happen when Affleck unfortunately left the project to direct Live By Night. Affleck has now delayed that project to allow him to star in David Fincher’s Gone Girl. Will Smith took Affleck’s spot however this change meant that Stewart chose to leave the project, due to Stewart feeling Will Smith was too old for her. According a Variety report the actress said “the age different between [her and Smith] would be too large a gap”. Stewart is only 23 years old while Smith is 44, interesting Margot Robbie is same age as Stewart.
Will this age gap cause an issue with this project, or will the cast change yet again before filming starts?
