After the ending of X-Men: Days of Future Past, fans were left wondering what, if anything would happen with the original “present day” cast? The writer of the film himself has an answer — sort of.

Writer Simon Kinberg recently spoke with The Daily Beast regarding the franchise, and of course the question many have wanted to ask: can we expect any returning original cast members for the next movie in the series, X-Men: Apocalypse?

Kinberg says, “It will focus primarily on the First Class cast, but it will certainly have some of the original cast involved, too.” He additionally confirmed that director Brian Singer is still set to return for the next installment.

The very last scene after the credits gave a huge indication of the next expected villain for the film (hint, it’s in the sequel title) and Kinberg explained, “At some point in making the movie we talked about what the potential next film would be, and we all really gravitated towards Apocalypse.” He added, “We really wanted it to be more for the core fans than for the broad audience; to be something that was a genuine tease, and almost mysterious to mainstream audiences who don’t know the comics well, so they’re thinking, ‘What’s that?’”

With an enemy as formidable as Apocalypse, the next movie may be the biggest X-Men film to date! Keep an eye out for it summer 2016!
