While many artists might just follow the same path as their artistic counterparts both past and present, Yashua is one such artist who does things a little differently. A relative newcomer to the industry, he is unapologetically himself in and through his work. He’s not looking to be a chart sensation, but instead, his one goal is to follow his heart and, regardless of what the industry thinks, share his truly authentic self with the world and its music fans.
His new single, “Te Vas” – whuich translated means “You Leave” – the video for which PopWrapped are delighted to premiere, was produced by Maejor, who is also Yashua’s co-manager, and in the video, Yashua works through the heartache of his bilingual lyrics with a complex and incredible dance routine. Yashua is not just a creative force with his music, but also through the way he uses his body as an instrument to interpret his songs.
Lyrically, Yashua’s music is both melancholy and hopeful; even on and through the more painful and emotionally honest songs like previous release “Dancing In The Rain”, those who listen to his music are able to feel the hope and light in the darkness of his mood. Yashua himself says heartache and pain “..is a learning experience to become a greater version of yourself.”
As someone who likes to think, write and create ‘outside of the box’, and whose music has transcended the boundaries of language, Yashua’s also not an artist much interested in lengthy or complicated stories behind the songs he writes, as showcased by his simple statement about new track “Te Vas”, which he says is about “..losing my girl once again and knowing that this time she’s gone for good.”
