Yot Club Drops “Deer Island”

“…it shows that if you do what you love, people will almost always be supportive even if it’s weird.”

Known best for his TikTok smash hit “YKWIM?”, Yot Club – whose real name is Ryan Kaiser – is gearing up to share his debut EP Santolina next month. Prior to that collection dropping however, PopWrapped are delighted to premiere the third and final single to be lifted from it called “Deer Island.” The two previous singles, “Alive” and “Hole” quickly racked up an impressive number of streams and considerable support, with fans loving the bedroom-pop sensibilities and dreamy guitar riffs. By nature, Yot Club emanates a feeling of summertime, even during as cold a month as December has been, and after the past couple of years we’ve all had, some warmth in any form is always welcome.

Decked out with lo-fi keys, reminiscent of the toy keyboard you might’ve had while growing up, in addition to frenetic surf rock chords, “Deer Island” proves to be immersive and heart-warming in its first 45 seconds alone. Layered with Kaiser’s fuzzed out and haunting yet delicate vocal delivery, the track makes the listener feel as though they’re floating on a cloud, basking in the sun and simply letting their surroundings pass them by.

Kaiser says of his latest single: “Deer Island is a tiny island with no residents.  You can see it from the coast and I’ve always thought it looked super creepy and liminal. One night I read about a guy that used to live there alone in a shack. He would paddle out to fisherman and tourist and sing for them and they would throw him tips. Everyone referred to him as the hermit of Deer Island and he was apparently very well liked throughout town. I just thought it was a cool story and it shows that if you do what you love, people will almost always be supportive even if it’s weird.”
