Your Crush Unveil New Single “Crying”

“…one of the softest tracks on the EP, evoking nostalgia-tinted regret…”

Hawaii natives Yan and Kahn, who together make up indie-pop duo Your Crush, have captured the hearts – and been stuck in the heads and ears – of music fans everywhere thanks in large part to their soft and dreamy bedroom acoustics which are strongly juxtaposed by lyrics on heartbreak, regret and reminiscence.

They’re a fairly new group on the scene, with their sound fitting more into the “alternative pop genre – specifically soft pop” category, but having released their debut single “London Eyes” last year, they quickly racked up more than 200,000 streams on Spotify alone, and today, PopWrapped are delighted to premiere their latest track “Crying.”

Their many influences including The 1975, Death Cab for Cutie and Taylor Swift are considerably present through all of their music, including this new single. The track is lifted from their upcoming EP Strawberry Sheets – set for release on March 25th – about which they say: “So often when you’re young, you’re in such a hurry to grow up and get out into the world that you take the ease of childhood for granted. The lyrics in “Crying” explore heavy and anxious emotions reminiscent of Yan’s childhood, but it remains one of the softest tracks on the EP, evoking nostalgia-tinted regret and pulling at the heartstrings of anyone familiar with growing pains.”

The EP is a collection of songs that lyrically bring to life a safe space where the pains of betrayal, loss and heartbreak are softened. All three difficult issues, topics and themes are explored on the record, painting a story of lessons learned in the most beautifully introspective way.

Outside of their own releases, Your Crush have also written and produced songs for a number of acclaimed R&B/pop artists including Tinashe, Jeremih and Ty Dolla $ign – even when they’re not putting out their own stuff, they’re maintaining their love of music and creativity at any opportunity and continuing to share their talents with the world.
