From the second Yuri Katsuki's skates hit the ice to pay tribute to his idol, Victor Nikiforov, audiences fell in love with his struggle to become the sexiest pork cutlet bowl in male figure skating history! Now, the show's creators have hinted at a possible Season 2 and movie for the beloved anime.
According to Den of Geek, the first season "debuted on October 16, 2016 and ended December 22, 2016." But thanks to one of the members of the Yuri on Ice creative team, there may be "an October 2017 release for Season 2."
While we would love a second season for the sports anime, the already confirmed feature film may put those dreams on hold. But just as Yuri had to come to terms with winning silver in the season finale, we fans may have to come to terms with a delayed second season.
Just like we are going to have to wait for Yuri and Victor's kiss.
We may not be entirely over that.
Last season left off with Yuri Katsuki losing the competition to his Russian counterpart, Yuri Pilsetsky (adoringly dubbed "Yurio") coming in at second place. While we do not know much about Season 2 and what we can expect, we can hope that the relationship between Yuri and Victor will only grow stronger.
They did already exchange rings. It's practically a done deal.
January 2017 saw fans lining up to compare Yuri on Ice to the Hallmark TV movie Love on Ice (2017). Fans of the beloved anime are accusing the Hallmark film of copying the anime into a heterosexual storyline. The film's IMDb page even has a plot summary similar to Yuri on Ice.
While Season 2 does not have an official trailer. fans are over the moon with the Blu-Ray promo clip, "featuring an all-new routine from Russian Yuri" ...and was that a man bun?
Yuri on Ice Season 2 won't be "hugely affected by whetever goes [down] in the movie" but it's still too early to tell. More information to come.
