News broke a couple of weeks ago that Zac Efron had completed a stint in rehab earlier this year
and that it had been kept under wraps until now. It’s still unclear what he was seeking treatment for but many speculate that it was for substance abuse. It should be stated that neither Efron nor his reps have confirmed or denied any of the claims.
While Efron hasn’t confirmed any of the claims he did thank his fans for their support on his WhoSay account
on Friday afternoon. He posted a photo of himself from his recent trip to Peru with the following caption: “Hey guys! Just returned from an incredible trip to Peru with my dad and wanted to thank you all for your support these past few weeks…means the world to me. Love you guys! – Z”

did report that Efron was “doing great” a few weeks ago at the Toronto International Film Festival and that “he’s taking care of himself and it shows.”
Efron seems to be focusing more on his film career and it certainly is apparent now as he’s promoting his latest movie, Parkland
. He spoke to USA Today
recently about his role in the film and how the role challenged him.
"That movie was really unafraid to go certain places. I definitely was able to challenge myself in a different way than The Lucky One
, for instance. And I think that's part of the reason that I was maybe thought of for this. It's really a surreal experience for me to be involved with these actors (Paul Giamatti and Colin Hanks), with (Parkland
's) story. It's something that feels very mature and really interesting. It's a whole different kind of filmmaking and I feel blessed to have been a part of it."
With the picture Efron posted of himself from his recent trip and with all the new projects he’s in it looks like Efron is really getting himself back on track and taking his recovery very seriously. We here at PopWrapped wish Efron nothing but the best and we can’t wait to see what the future holds for him.
opens on October 4 in the US and November 8 in the UK.
