Zachary Quinto is adding another unique and ambitious role to his resume. Quinto will star in The Slap, a forthcoming NBC drama mini-series.

Quinto will play Harry, the perpetrator of the titular slap. The official show summary describes Harry as “married, with a 15-year-old son, he is a mechanic/dealer specializing in expensive European automobiles, and lives with his family in a Brooklyn loft. Perennially angry but seemingly pleased with his life, Harry is a staunch believer in family and loyalty and never shies from picking a fight. However, Harry picks on the wrong guy when he slaps the horribly misbehaving child of another couple.”

The Slap, based on the award-winning novel by Christos Tsiolkas, was previously made into a mini series by Australian TV in 2001.

Airdates for the NBC version of The Slap have yet to be released.
