Zayn Malik can’t seem to catch a break can he? The 22 year old's solo career hasn't even begun and already it is in dispute.
Earlier last week news broke out that the ex- One Directioner and music producer Naughty Boy had a major falling out and cut ties in working together but now it seems Simon Cowell doesn’t even want to support Malik’s solo career.
Zayn has been dropped from Simon Cowell’s Sony label Syco according to the Sun newspaper and the reasoning behind it is because Simon would rather focus his loyalty on the original band members despite being supportive of Zayn’s solo career in the beginning.
A source told the Sun,
It’s a big move for Simon because Zayn could have a very successful solo career but his priority absolutely remains the band and this is a big statement on his part.
But fear not Directioners, Zayn hasn’t cut all his ties with Sony, as the music giant company has many labels under its belt not only Syco in which Zayn will be moved from. Turn First Artists will be seeing all of Zayn’s music releases who also look after the careers of Iggy Azalea and Ellie Goulding. So Malik is still within the Sony group.
Zayn will stay in the Sony family under a different label and it’s totally with Simon Cowell’s blessing. It was just felt to be a bit difficult to have 1D and Zayn on the same label — and everyone felt it was better for him to be somewhere different.
a source for Syco explained,
Since leaving the band, Zayn has changed management and lawyers so it would kind of make sense for him to work with a new label team.
the source added,
But having said that, he still gets on great with Simon. And his girlfriend Perrie Edwards is having huge success with Little Mix with Syco. And, at the moment, while things are being finalised, Zayn is still signed to Syco.
Well, here’s hoping Zayn hasn’t regretted leaving his former band mates after this whole debacle this week.
