"It’s On Us" is a White House campaign aiming to prevent sexual assault from occurring on college campuses. Student leadership at nearly 200 colleges and universities, certain college-level sports organizations such as the NCAA, and the Center for American Progress’ Generation Progress partnered with President Obama’s administration to help launch the campaign last September.
The campaign reflects the belief that sexual assault isn’t just an issue involving a crime committed by a perpetrator against a victim, but one in which the rest of us also have a role to play. We are committed to creating an environment – be it a dorm room, a party, a bar or club, or the greater college campus – where sexual assault is unacceptable and survivors are supported.
They have recently released a second video featuring Zoe Saldana, Nina Dobrev, Matt McGorry, and John Cho, among others, speaking about the importance of sexual consent. This video has a message as blunt as the first -- that sex without consent "isn’t sex, it’s rape”.

With many students gearing up to head to school this month, the campaign’s latest video is well timed. The National Sexual Violence Resource Center’s Campus Sexual Assault Fact Sheet estimates that nearly 1 in 4 women have been sexually assaulted at one point during their post-secondary career, and that 90 percent of them knew their attacker.
