BBC Will Make Brontë Sisters Drama

The BBC is set to make a Bronte Sisters drama entitled "To Walk Invisble- The Bronte Sisters" which will follow the lives of the sisters and their family.

Last Tango in Halifax author Sally Wainwright is going to bring the turbulent lives of the Bronte sisters to the BBC.

The one off 120 minute drama will follow Charlotte, Emily, and Anne’s relationships with each other and their brother who was plagued with addiction later in life.

The show, titled To Walk Invisble- The Bronte Sisters, will be filmed in Yorkshire where the family lived.

The cast has yet to be announced, but BBC One controller Charlotte Moore said:

“The Brontë sisters have always been enigmatic but Sally Wainwright’s brilliantly authentic new BBC One drama brings the women behind some of our greatest literary masterpieces to life.

It’s an extraordinary tale of family tragedy and their passion and determination, against the odds, to have their genius recognised in a male 19th century world.”

The drama will not only explore the siblings’ lives, but the life of their father, a man who encouraged their interest in literature, regardless of their gender.

Charlotte, perhaps the most famous of the three, died at just 38. Her most famous story was Jane Eyre, whilst her sister Emily wrote Wuthering Heights and Anne, the youngest, wrote The Tenant of Wildfell Hall.

Certainly a talented bunch!
