When things like this happen, occasionally your first thought isn’t always about whether or not anyone got hurt. It’s pretty much about this being a chance to score some free beer.
This was not one of those times, as a truck carrying thousands of cans of beer crashed into a rail yesterday. It spilled beer all over the E18 motorway between Arboga & Orebro in Sweden.
Authorities ordered a clean-up operation to clean up the 100 metre trail of beer that had spilled yesterday. No one was hurt during the incident in question. All of the cargo is being inspected to see of any of the beer can be salvaged and is safe for consumption.
Any cans that can’t be recovered will sadly be destroyed.
The commander of Emergency Services Olga Magnusson said: “They’re pretty thorough when it comes to alcoholic beverages. Every barcode is scanned due to alcohol taxes and other reasons, but it looks dark. A lot is crumpled and can be overlooked.”
It was back in 2011, just two years ago, that there were major traffic disruptions in Munich, Germany when beer bottles went flying off the back of a truck.
I’m pleased to hear that no one got hurt.
I can’t help this lingering thought in my head that asks “How many people do you think made an attempt to try and run off with free beer and somehow managed to not be noticed?”
