BET was recently served legal papers courtesy of fashion writer B. Scott.
Multiple sources, includingthe Associated Press, the Huffington PostandTMZ,have reported that B. Scott is suing the channel for forcing the internet personality to change into men’s clothing during the recent BET Awards in Los Angeles in June.
Before the BET Awards show, B. Scott was hired as a correspondent for the Ford Red Carpet pre-show event. The non-conforming fashion personality wrote on his blog that producers forced him to change his clothing, not wear his high heels, and demanded that he take his make-up off. Even though he followed their directions to a T, the producers replaced him with another correspondent.
While the entertainment network publicly apologized to B. Scott in the press, B. Scott stated it was a non-apology and added that he felt humiliated from this stunt.
“Let’s be clear – I’m suing BET and Viacom for a true public apology and to be fairly remunerated for the time lost, humiliation and emotional distress this entire situation has put me through,” he said in a statement attained bythe Associated Press.
