Chrissy Chlapecka says, “Welcome to Bimbo TikTok”

Reclaiming the once-slur, “Bimbo” from the clutches of history and boring boomers, Gen Z have created a space for “girls, gays, and they’s.” Draped in hot pink everything, glitter, and positivity saying, “this is your sign to dump him!.”

Wander over to ‘BimboTok’ and see for yourself; these mavericks are taking back what was an insult, turning it on it’s head, and using it against the insulters.

TikTokker Chrissy Chlapecka embodies the breathless IDGAF vibe of her predecessors. Whether by inspiration or design, she knee-caps sexist and outdated ideas of who a woman should be. Far from a ditz she weaponizes a perfect vocal fry and lilt to the end of her statements as if everything is a question. She creates content that is brilliant, neon, kitsch, and adorable; yet with a solid one-two K.O. to sexist ideas of femininity.

“Bimbo” is an Italian masculine gender term that quite literally, and this cannot be made up, means, “(male) baby”. The term has history in the purview. The root of the term has been flawlessly turned into a finger-gun-wink-combo to the old guard of the male gaze and feminism. It derives from “bambino”meaning baby; a term of endearment in the aggrandizing mafioso media we grew up with. “Bimba” would be the apropos female equivalent.

From the character played by Reese Witherspoon in “Legally Blonde”; Elle Woods, with the head-tilt asking, “what, like it’s hard?” in answer to being admitted into Harvard Law School, to Marilyn Monroe with presence that could stop you with a single glance, Anna Nicole-Smith whose electric personality delighted America, the gorgeous Pamela Anderson, to Britney Spears who utilized a “baby voice” that delighted the entire world’s ears, to Paris Hilton purring, “that’s hot”, to the queen mother: Dolly Parton, with an indomitable heart of gold. Who would even be ashamed of being compared to such powerhouses? Anyone femme identifying, masc, or outside of the binary can draw on these examples, personas, and personalities; they never take any gruff and keep on keeping on. Wear whatever, be kind, be you. That is the Nuwave Everyoneism/ Neofeminism message.
