HBO has announced the premiere date for the newest season of "Curb Your Enthusiasm": October 1.
TV’s most celebrated misanthrope isn’t done yet. HBO has announced the premiere date for the newest season of Curb Your Enthusiasm: October 1. This will be the ninth season of the popular and critically acclaimed Larry David series.
HBO’s president of programming, Casey Bloys, said in a statement, “We’re thrilled that Larry has decided to do a new season of Curb and can’t wait to see what he has planned.”
The mostly improvised Curb Your Enthusiasm stars David, one of the creators of Seinfeld, playing himself in a fictionalized take on his life. His co-stars include Jeff Garlin as his manager, Cheryl Hines as his ex-wife, and JB Smoove as his friend Leon. During its previous eight seasons, the series racked up 39 Emmy nominations (with two wins) and five Golden Globe nominations (and one win for Best Television Series – Musical or Comedy, in 2003).
Curb Your Enthusiasm: New Season Hints
In Curb Your Enthusiasm’s last season ender, which aired in 2011, Larry and Leon go to Paris after Larry accuses Michael J. Fox of harassment. Plot details for the new season are being kept closely under wraps. Series regulars Garlin, Hines, Smoove, and Susie Essman are set to return, as are frequent guest stars Ted Danson, Mary Steenburgen, and Richard Lewis.
In May, Garlin spoke with Entertainment Weekly about the new season but didn’t share much: “It’s what people dig about the show. The story line is kind of crazy. I can’t tell the story line.”
The social media-averse David is keeping mum on the new season, but based on the teaser trailer, what David has in store for fans is looking to be pretty, pretty, pretty good.
