It was only a matter of time. Three Academy Awards, countless other accolades, and the unofficial title of Greatest Living Actor! Now, Daniel Day-Lewis can add another prestigious award to his collection – a knighthood.
Sir Daniel Day-Lewis (as he is now to be known) was included on Queen Elizabeth’s birthday list honors this week, along with countless others. The knighthood has never been a stranger to the film world – the likes of Patrick Stewart, Ian McKellen, and several others have received it in the past. Giving Day-Lewis this accolade was no surprise, as he has made Oscar history, and is undoubtedly the greatest living British actor, and quite possibly one of the greatest of all time.
Other honorees include Angelina Jolie, who receives an honorary dame title from The Queen for her charity work, and Stephen Sutton, the 19-year-old cancer activist that lost his brave battle to cancer last month. There were several other honorees, ranging from the world of sport, music, and even in the education sector.
