Deadpool Star Ryan Reynolds Closes New Deal For Sequel

Ryan Reynolds’ agents have secured a new deal for the upcoming, highly anticipated sequel to the hit comic book film, Deadpool.

Ryan Reynolds' agents have secured a new deal for the upcoming, highly anticipated sequel to the hit comic book film, Deadpool.

No one ever thought that an R-rated comic book movie about the Merc With A Mouth would end up being the highest grossing R-rated film of all time, but Deadpool did just that.

Bringing in over $750 million worldwide so far, off of a modest production budget of only $58 million, it’s no surprise that 20th Century Fox greenlit the sequel for production.  In fact the studio was so confident in this film that they announced, shortly after its release, that work on a script for the sequel had begun, and that Ryan Reynolds was set to reprise his role as the titular character.

Then a report by The Hollywood Reporter surfaced back in February, just after the film opened, saying that Reynolds had received $2 milion upfront and would receive bonuses and back-end compensation based on the success of the film.  This report also stated that his agents were preparing to renegotiate for the imminent sequel.

Well, according to Heroic Hollywood those negotiations have come to a close, and Ryan Reynolds has struck a brand new deal with the studio for Deadpool 2, which is set to start production this fall with a 2017 release in mind.

The sequel will feature the mutant time-traveler, Cable, and is said to also include his teammate, confidant, and lover Neena Thurman aka Domino.

Wade Wilson (Ryan Reynolds) is a former Special Forces operative who now works as a mercenary. His world comes crashing down when evil scientist Ajax (Ed Skrein) tortures, disfigures and transforms him into Deadpool. The rogue experiment leaves Deadpool with accelerated healing powers and a twisted sense of humor. With help from mutant allies Colossus and Negasonic Teenage Warhead (Brianna Hildebrand), Deadpool uses his new skills to hunt down the man who nearly destroyed his life.
