Two things are becoming very clear about the new Adam Sandler comedy The Cobbler: one is that the director Tom McCarthy is collecting himself a rather eclectic cast, and two, that no one can seem to agree on the plot of the movie, or even if one exists.

Breaking it down, let’s start with the casting. As we know, the film will star Adam Sandler and joining him are Downton Abbey’s Dan Stevens, Sondra James (Boardwalk Empire), Steve Buscemi (Reservoir Dogs) with Dustin Hoffman (Rain Man) and rapper Method Man added to the list earlier today (November 18).

Now for the plot, several news outlets have stated that Sandler will star in the title role of “the Cobbler” as “a shoe repair man with the ability to literally walk in other people’s shoes; he can metaphysically step into their lives for a certain period of time” whereas there are others saying that the plot is being kept closely under wraps.

The only thing that all media outlets seem to be in consensus with is that Steve Buscemi’s character will be named Manny.
