When you combine the salty (AmericanHorrorStory) with the sweet (Evan Peters), you savor the treat.
In an interview with EntertainmentWeekly, the actor talked about his character Kai, Cheetos, and masturbating on camera.
Evan Peters read books and binged documentaries to get into Kai’s head
Based on infamous cult leaders, like Charles Manson, Peters plays an eccentric, blue-haired devil with world domination in mind. He gathers a flock of vulnerable individuals by preying on their own insecurities and molding them into his image. Since the artsy, anti-Instagram actor known for his relationship with Emma Roberts is the exact opposite of a psychopath, he prepped for the role by studying books and binging on Netflix documentaries. “I read SeductivePoison. I read CombattingCultMindControl. I read a great book called TheArtofSeduction. I watched as many documentaries as I could on cults,” he explains.

He delved deep into Kai’s mind, seeping into the cracks of his cracked mentality, which appears in the first five minutes of the premiere.
Moments after the election, Kai goes into the kitchen to turn Cheetos into an orange paste, which he rubs around his entire face. Apparently, the concoction made for a relaxing facial. “It was nice. It was kind of an astringent and a little drying. It was good for the normal to oily skin and to alleviate that shine,” he says. Kai really took the slogan “Dangerously Cheesy” to a whole new level though. Even though his wild behavior gave audiences a small laugh, it also gave them an even bigger fright. From drilling nails into a cult member’s head to talking to his decomposing parents, his insanity knew no bounds.
He even touched himself in a shower while an employee watched.
“Look, it’s never an easy day at work when you have to jerk off in front of a bunch of strangers. It’s a little daunting. You kind of have to in a sense check out or put up a wall. I have done some insane stuff,” he concludes.
