Facebook’s White Hat team has recently revealed that a security malfunction allowed private telephone numbers and email addresses to be seen by connected users.

Those “friend recommendations” that we all see on our page are supported by a unique program and that information was wrongly stored on their account which allowed the glitch to occur.

The information was then given to the connected users while using the “download your information” tool. As of now, that option has been removed so that programmers may fix the glitch.

Facebook made this statement in an attempt to reassure its users: “We currently have no evidence that this bug has been exploited maliciously and we have not received complaints from users or seen anomalous behavior on the tool or site to suggest wrongdoing.

“Additionally, no other types of personal or financial information were included and only people on Facebook – not developers or advertisers – have access to the DYI tool.”

Well, that makes me feel all better! How about you?
