Dan Stevens of Downtown Abbey stars in The Ticket, a heartfelt tale of a man who was blind but is suddenly able to see again. The film is set to debut in April of this year, although we don’t know whether that will be a nationwide or limited release. The film is centered around a man who appreciates everything he has because of his blindness, but, when he can suddenly see again, he becomes obsessed with superficial things and puts his whole world in jeopardy due to his new-found vision.

The film also stars Malin Akerman. who’s starred in films like Couple’s Retreat and The Heartbreak Kid. She plays the role of the wife who is deeply hurt by Steven’s new lifestyle. The film also stars Oliver Platt as another blind man who tries to smack some sense into his friend. You may know Oliver Platt from Chicago Med, Lake Placid, The West Wing and more.

From the official trailer below, it seems like this is going to be a dramatic, serious story with some humor elements mixed in. The Ticket aired at the Tribeca Film Festival and has a lot of excitement buzzing around it. Review site The Film Stage did give the film a negative review, however, stating that the film is humorless. Despite this, the trailer below seems to disagree.

IndieWire gave a much more in depth review of the movie, stating, “The Ticket exists better as a parable than as a true-to-life drama. From the story James tells that inspires the film’s title to frequent scenes in church, there’s an emphasis on spirituality and the role belief plays.”

Are you excited for this film, or is it one heartfelt tale too many? The story certainly has been done, but any chance to see Oliver Platt is enough of a reason for us to jump on board!
