According to Deadline, the star will write the screenplay for Someday, Someday, Maybe. The story is about a young woman named Franny Banks who is running out of time on her 3-year plan of becoming an actress in New York. The book of the same name was published on April 30 and has become a New York Times bestseller.

The adaptation is due to be an hour-long drama, with Ellen DeGeneres and Jeff Kleeman joining Lauren as executive producers on the project. The screenplay will reportedly mirror the witty tone of the novel.

There is no word on whether Lauren will be appearing in front of the camera or any other casting choices so far.

Lauren will return for the 5th season of Parenthood, which is set to return in the fall on NBC.
