Filipino singing sensation Charice, 21, has taken the opportunity today to officially come out of the closet!

While in recent months questions about Charice’s sexuality have been circulating in the media, it wasn’t until today when she was interviewed for a local Filipino show called The Buzz that the Glee guest star felt comfortable confirming anything.

“And now that I’ve finally come out, I finally feel better, that I can go out of the house without hiding anything, that I won’t trample on anyone’s feet because I’m not hiding anything anymore!” It’s not all happy news for the star, though; Charice went on to add, “Sorry, Mommy, Carl, but this is who I am.” The singer is currently more or less estranged from her mother but has hope for a reconciliation in the near future. Meanwhile, however, she explained that she’s happy to have found so much love and support from the people in her life.

“To those who can accept me, thank you very much,” she said in the same interview. “We are all equal, whether you are gay or straight.”

We say congratulations to Charice for coming out and being proud of who she is!
